Mama Pea's handmade baby quilts are precisely designed, cut, and pieced in the comfort of a tiny quilt studio overlooking southern slopes of fruit trees and raised-bed organic gardens in the northeastern tip of Minnesota.

Our quilts are machine-quilted for strength and durability while
the bindings are hand-stitched for continuity and a quality appearance.

The tops and backings on all Mama Pea's baby quilts are 100% cotton, and the fabric is pre-washed to assure color-fastness.

The batting used is either 100% cotton or, in some cases,
polyester (which will be noted in the description of the quilt).

Our quilts are each one-of-a-kind, and no two are ever alike.

The baby quilt you choose will truly be a unique piece of Americana, and one to be handed down through the generations.

Unpredictable March

Here in northeastern Minnesota, March seems to be coming in as a cross between a lamb and a lion.

Although our snow has been fast disappearing with the newly felt warmth of the rising sun, our highest temperatures are still not reaching above freezing.

I'm spending time alternating between the schedules required to properly start garden seeds and perusing the quilt catalogs both in-hand and online while oohing and aahing over the new spring/summer lines of fabric.

I currently have a couple (okay, a few if I were to be totally honest) baby quilts in progress that I plan on finishing this month.  But, as a treat to myself, I've started a full-sized quilt using Civil War reproduction inspired fabrics, and I'm getting so much enjoyment watching it grow on my design wall!

Many of you in warmer parts of the country are already putting seeds in your garden or spending more time outside.  Truth to tell, in our part of the woods, we can most assuredly plan on this month being more like winter than spring.  But you can bet the first day that it's warm enough, I'll take some hand quilting and sit on our south-facing deck to enjoy stitching while soaking up some sunshine.

I hope you can find time this month to check out my quilting blog as I write about and post pictures of my current projects.  And, if you leave a comment, I'll be sure to stop by your blog to see what you're up to!
